Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the precise mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic assembly of highly engineered railroad machinery. The Assembler ensures all components are built to engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements to support reliable field performance.

Full Position Details:
Essential Duties:
Mechanical Assembly
- Assemble machines, mechanical subassemblies, and machine components according to engineering drawings and build packages.
- Install drivetrains, engines, rollers, linkages, and precision-fit parts.
- Perform torquing, alignment, and mechanical fit-up operations.
Electrical Assembly
- Route and install wiring harnesses, sensors, control panels, breakers, relays, and electrical enclosures.
- Terminate connectors, perform continuity checks, and support system troubleshooting.
- Assist with verifying integration between electrical systems and machine controls.
Hydraulic & Pneumatic Assembly
- Install hoses, tubing, valves, pumps, motors, cylinders, manifolds, accumulators, and air systems.
- Conduct hose routing, cleanliness procedures, and leak testing.
- Validate proper function of hydraulic and pneumatic circuits during pre-test operations.
Testing & Quality
- Support equipment testing, calibration, and functional verification.
- Identify nonconformities and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assembly steps, rework, and test results.
Safety & Continuous Improvement
- Follow RRP safety policies, including lockout/tagout, crane and rigging procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Participate in 5S activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report hazards, quality issues, or improvement opportunities promptly.
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or industrial equipment assembly (preferably heavy equipment or custom machinery).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Proficiency with hand tools, torque tools, electrical meters, crimpers, and hydraulic tools.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical circuits and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely perform work in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience assembling heavy industrial, construction, or railroad equipment.
- Technical or vocational training in electromechanical, industrial technology, or related fields.
- Experience with crane and rigging operations, hydraulic cleanliness standards, and precision measurement tools.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to moving machinery, power tools, and occasional outdoor testing.
- Requires regular standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working around hydraulic fluids, electrical systems, and heavy components.
- Close collaboration with engineering, welding, machining, paint, and test departments.
